TEDxBratislava 2026: A Touch of Lightness

“Touch of Lightness” represents a subtle yet powerful moment that can surprise us with its depth.
It does not simplify things superficially or make them seem easier than they are. Instead, it creates space—space where ideas can emerge, grow, and resonate in a natural way. This lightness allows us to move forward, even in complex or challenging situations, without losing meaning or depth.

About the Venue

TEDxBratislava 2026 will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Umelka Gallery.

Umelka Gallery is one of Slovakia’s most important architectural landmarks and a symbol of early modernism.

Designed by architects Alois Balán and Jiří Grossmann, the building will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026.

After a careful renovation, it continues to serve as a vibrant cultural space—a place where art, ideas, and people come together. Its clean and thoughtful design creates an environment that naturally focuses attention on what matters most: meaningful ideas and human connection.

Tickets

The ticket price includes full-day refreshments, artistic performances, and activities during breaks.

A new feature this year is that the ticket also includes a full-day public transport pass for Bratislava on the day of the event. This makes it easier for attendees to get around while supporting a more sustainable way of transport. You can present your event ticket as a valid transport pass during ticket inspections.

The event will be hosted in Slovak, with talks presented in both Slovak and English. To ensure all sessions are accessible to everyone, simultaneous interpretation will be provided in both directions — Slovak to English and English to Slovak. If you will need a headset for the interpretation, please indicate this when purchasing your ticket.

  • Lucia Hô-Chí

    A co-founder of food projects who shows how happiness is made up of small details we often overlook.

  • Veronika Obertová

    A biomedical engineer and professional basketball referee who stands between two worlds, exploring what happens when we choose only one.

  • Danny Bate

    A linguist and writer who explores how language is formed, how it evolves, and why it often doesn’t work the way we expect. He also examines the decisions we make before we even begin to speak.

  • Daniel Thilo Schroeder

    An AI research scientist studies the behavior of coordinated swarms of AI agents and their impact on society. What happens when AI begins to act collectively?

  • Michal Barbier

    A five-time world and European fitness champion, he explores movement as something much broader than mere performance.

  • Katarína Baranová

    Actress and director of the LUDUS school and theater, who explores what happens when adults allow themselves to play again.

  • Alice Boyd

    Musician, sound artist and audio producer, works at the intersection of music, field recordings, and environmental listening.
